Here are a few of the items we can't haul and a few things we can't do.
- No mover is permitted by law to haul gasoline or oil, if we move any motorized items we do need to have the gas removed and in some cases the oil also. Mover cannot carry anything explosive.
- We are not permitted to haul chemicals, fertilizers or pesticides.
- Refrigerators and freezers should be cleaned out before moving them. We will have no way to plug up refrigerators or freezers. Also many times we will need to remove the doors from a refrigerator to get in out of or into a home. It is recommended that you try and unplug refrigerators and freezers at least 12 hours before the move and leave the doors open. This allows the inside to be the same temperature as the air outside and will help prevent mildew. Also once it is ready to be moved you can place some coffee in a sock, this will adsorb the left over moisture. Also remember that items left inside your refrigerator or freezer can cause damage to the inside walls of the appliance.
- Our insurance will not allow us to go into crawl spaces or into attics.
- Many people ask about our shoes. Our employees always wear non-marking shoes. We will also have floor protection that we will put down. Our insurance will not allow us to remove our shoes.
- We can make no guarantees on pressed wood furniture. We will do our very best to take care of it. This type of furniture is designed to be assumable and not moved. It is very hard to move it without causing damage to it. We will do our very best to care for it, and very rarely is it damaged. In most situations it is better if you take it apart.
- We will re-assemble anything that we take apart. We also disconnect washers, dryers and refrigerators and will reconnect them on the other end as long as there are no problems. (Example: we can not swap out dryer plugs, water lines, and will not go under your home to turn off water to refrigerators.) The only exception to this is electronics such as televisions, stereos and computers. We will unhook them, but we do not reconnect them.
- You should pack all your smaller items in boxes. Small loose items are difficult for us to handle safely. A good rule of thumb is that if you have a box that it can fit into it should be in the box. This will make the job both safer and faster.
- We can not be responsible for damaged items in a box that was not packed by us. We will handle all your items with care, but if an item isn't packed the right way by the shipper we can't be held liable.
- We have no way of moving loose clothing. You can leave clothing in drawers of your furniture, but all hanging clothing should be packed in boxes. Wardrobes are the best to use for your hanging clothes; the box will keep them hanging and also keep them clean during the move. We can loan these boxes to you. You pack them as we load and then you can unpack them at your new home and we can take them back with us.
- Payment on local moves is required at the end of the move we accept cash, checks, Master Card and Visa. If you move out of state payment is required on arrival at your new home before unloading. We can accept cash, money order, Master Card, Visa we cannot accept personal checks on out of state moves. Company moves can be billed, but please give billing information to the office before the move so that we will have all the needed information.
- Many people ask about moving live plants. If you are moving locally sometimes we can move them, although there may be a fee. This is because the plants normally get the trucks dirty, and they must be cleaned afterwards. They also take a lot of space up on the truck, We can't be responsible for the plant dying. If you are moving long distance, you should sell them, or leave them behind. They normally die very quickly on trucks. The trucks are dark and can get very hot or cold inside. Also many states will not allow us to bring them in.
Some of the items listed here are directed towards customers that are crossing state lines. A few exceptions can be made for local moves.
